From Policy to Implementation.
on: December 16, 2014, 16:19

Several projects within the HAIVISIO community have highlighted that while they understand that there are different european, national and sometimes regional or local government policy commitments in relation active and healthy ageing, in many cases they are not creating the conditions under which ICT based health and AAL innovations can be broadly adopted. This is particularly evident in policies directed at ageing-in-place as an alternative to long-term residential care, where technology can help foster and support the individual and community eco-system resilience to support balanced independence and social connectedness.rnrnResearch, policy development and transformation of practice/service delivery are three blocks of activity that are not linear, but more like a triangle with possible flows of direction in between each dimension in both directions. The challenge is less about evidence-based policy, but rather that of implementation – how to translate, scale, replicate and grow emerging good practices into sustainable service improvement. Over and above issues of standards, interoperability, and privacy, the barrier to growth and replicability is the problem of implementation – and is now being addressed by the emergence of 'implementation science'.rnrn
